About Charlotte

I started playing in the dirt as a child making mud pies for my dolls! My grandfather was a farmer, my grandmother and mother were both avid gardeners. So I guess gardening is in my blood!

While gardening has always been an interest of mine, my professional work has been as a teacher and broadcaster. I started out teaching English and German in the U.S. and then spent 13 years living abroad teaching English as a Second Language in Jordan, Thailand and Brazil where my husband worked on assignments for the United Nations. For the last 24 years of my professional life, I was the Community Affairs Director at 13 WHAM TV, the ABC affiliate in Rochester, NY. In 1994, I created, produced and hosted a public affairs program, "Many Voices, Many Visions," celebrating cultural diversity. Over the years it won several state and national awards and I was asked to do a fair amount of public speaking on diversity at area colleges as well as panel moderation for various non-profits in the area.

Now retired and a "full time" gardener, I've married those public speaking skills to my gardening and flower photography to give power point presentations on my garden and garden photography to garden clubs and other interested organizations. My perspective on flowers for these presentations is the special spiritual nature of flowers.

Light in the Garden

I'll run to the garden in a heartbeat if I see light on a flower. It's not so much that I'm a photographer, as a lover of light and flowers.

My daughter, Keri, understands my profound love of flowers and wrote a poem for me.

Completely synchronized are the dancing wildflowers
Harmony is the theme they naturally portray
Actively they will talk to the sky for hours
Raindrops are invited to come down and play
Laughter ripples through the myriad colors
Openly joyous and happy are they
True testaments of the love and the peace that abound
Thank you, God, for the reminder you are never far away
Echo a flower's vibrance at least once a day.

I have tried to catch the spiritual vibrance of flowers in these photo cards and prints. It's my hope that you will find them as beautiful and healing as I do.
